New facility at Chea Sim Kampong Thmor High School expands learning opportunities and promotes financial literacy for rural students.
KAMPONG THOM PROVINCE, Cambodia – March 7, 2026 – H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, presided over the official inauguration of a newly constructed library at Chea Sim Kampong Thmor High School in Kampong Thmor District. The initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening access to education and knowledge resources for students in rural Cambodia.
The project was made possible through the initiative of H.E. Chea Chanto and Madam Khiev Sina, together with contributions from the leadership and staff of the National Bank of Cambodia and First Finance Plc. The collaboration highlights a shared commitment to investing in Cambodia’s youth and promoting financial literacy through education.
On this occasion, Dr. Chea Serey highlighted the strong commitment of the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia to developing human capital, which has been identified as a priority under the implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy at all stages. She noted that the construction and official inauguration of the new library demonstrate the dedication of the leadership and staff of the National Bank of Cambodia to supporting the development of Cambodia’s education sector and strengthening knowledgeable and capable human resources in line with the government’s priority policies.
During the event, the Governor also encouraged students to study diligently and urged parents and guardians to actively support and motivate their children’s education. By working together, families and communities can help develop capable human resources who will contribute to the continued progress and development of the nation in the future.
Supporting Holistic Student Development
In addition to the library inauguration, First Finance Plc. contributed sports equipment—including soccer balls and volleyballs—to encourage students to engage in physical activities that promote health, teamwork, and balanced personal development alongside academic learning.
A Space for Knowledge and Opportunity
The newly constructed library spans approximately 180 square meters (9m x 20m) and is designed to serve as a dedicated space for reading, research, and collaborative learning. Equipped with a diverse collection of educational materials—including general academic resources, literature, and financial management books—the library aims to enhance learning opportunities for students in Kampong Thmor District.
“At First Finance, we believe that a strong home is built on a foundation of knowledge,” said Mr. Say Sony, Chief Marketing Officer of First Finance Plc. “Supporting this library is an investment in the future of Cambodian families. By expanding access to educational resources, we help empower the next generation to achieve academic success and build strong financial futures.”
Key Benefits for the Community
